The Medical Office Trainer is responsible for initial EPIC training and ongoing medical office competency education and verification for both administrative and medical assistant clinical staff in the office setting to ensure compliance and best practices.  Works with administration, operations, physicians, and workflow team to develop procedures, written materials, and implement training opportunities to ensure competency and clinical and administrative excellence at Charles River Medical Associates office locations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to work with Operations, Human Resources, Physicians, and Office Managers to develop and deliver appropriate new hire orientation/onboarding for office staff (providers, administrative and medical assistants) to include use of software including EPIC, Patient Gateway, RIS, and overview of insurance, billing/coding, customer service expectations, and general workflow. Provides education on P4P, TMP, and team based care other programs.
  • Develops, monitors, and ensures new office staff meet initial competencies during a defined post hire period. Communicates with offices about progress meeting new hire goals.
  • Develops and delivers training on clinical medical assistant skills such as vital signs, rooming sequence, EKGs, PFTs, injections, and phlebotomy.
  • Participates in direct training and mentoring of staff in administrative and clinical tasks in the office both in a classroom setting as well as in the office setting.
  • Ensures that each person in the office setting who performs tests and procedures receives didactic and/or hands-on training annually and is validated to be competent in the skill.
  • Maintains records and tracking of staff competency.
  • Works with Human Resources on maintaining training records and proof of credentials, certification, and licensure for non-provider staff.
  • Serves as a resource to provide training to improve staff performance issues as needed.
  • Works with workflow and team based care implementation team on assessments and providing didactic and hands-on training to improve performance in offices.
  • Works in a medical office environment as assigned performing both administrative and clinical duties on a regular basis to keep skills pertinent to current office processes and procedures.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a Medical Office environment. Leadership or supervisory capacity with demonstrated experience in training and mentoring staff preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or LPN/RN required.
  • Exceptional administrative and computer skills required with experience EPIC, various software, insurance, and scheduling functions.
