ENDOSCOPY SECRETARY/ RECEPTIONIST/ FRONT END TECH
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Nursing
Responsible for patient reception, scheduling, telephone triage, and general business office functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and file Medical Record charts including scanning etc.
- Maintain and order supplies for front office
- Prepare and distribute copies of daily schedule for the office including Scheduling and rescheduling procedures as needed- updating of schedule and communicating to staff. Responsible for appointment scheduling and confirmation.
- Keep work area organized to improve efficiency
- Answer telephone courteously, faxing as necessary, emailing, mailing etc.
- Perform other duties or related work as necessary or assigned
- Adhere to office policies
- Obtain insurance forms and/or copy of insurance cards and checking patients in/ registering patients while maintaining accuracy of patient demographics, insurance information etc. and confirming necessary information. Maintains patient payment when necessary.
- Help with patient care in nursing area when needed. i.e. making/ moving beds, bringing patients into unit, making phone calls, assisting unsteady patients etc. to support staff with patient flow.
- Demonstrates courteous professional and cooperative behavior toward patients, visitors, coworkers, supervisors, nurses, physicians and other offices.
- Protecting the center’s hardware, software, information and data by complying with its security/ privacy policies and procedures and correctly using security technologies. Perform duties related to handling of patient medical records always keeping protected information secure and following the laws of HIPPA
- Completing required security/ privacy training
- Using computer terminals and workstations in a manner that protects the security of information they access
- Reporting all security/ privacy breaches to their supervisors or to the Privacy Officer when their supervisors are unavailable.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of their password.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrate good inter-personal relations
- Knowledge of medical terminology, formal or on the job experience
- High school diploma
- An individual with secretarial experience, preferably in a physician office setting.
- Experience with computer systems, emailing, faxing etc…
- Understanding of different insurance plans
- Flexibility, customer service orientation, positive attitude, good learning aptitude, ability to work well with patients and coworkers.
- Experience managing multi-line telephone systems.
- Medical terminology
